Support for Fantom and GMR xHD series via the GSI 10 gateway expands radar choice for maritime systems integrators.
Cambridge Pixel, a developer of radar processing, tracking and display software, has added Garmin® to its list of supported radar manufacturers, introducing support for the Fantom™ and GMR™ xHD series of maritime radars through the GSI 10 gateway device.
Cambridge Pixel responded to a customer request to add support for a Garmin radar they had chosen for a particular application. Having interfaced with over 80 different radar makes and models, their experience made adding Garmin support straightforward. The enhancement enables SPx Server, the widely used radar tracking and processing software, to form high-quality tracks from radar video supplied by the Garmin radar.
Maritime projects vary considerably in their operational requirements, installation constraints and budgets. Support for multiple radar manufacturers lets developers and integrators select equipment suited to each project while maintaining a consistent software development approach.
Developers of technologies such as autonomous and Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) using Cambridge Pixel software can now choose supported Garmin marine radars to incorporate into their system designs, with connectivity provided through the GSI 10 gateway.
